Review :: From Darkness :: Staci Hart

Blurb:
I never wanted to leave her. But I had no choice.
I’ve spent the last three years raising my daughter and wishing for things I couldn’t have. When I came back to New York, I thought I could find my way back to her. But that path was lost, grown over and hidden from everyone, especially me.
Her obsession over her best friend’s death is dangerous, and the man she’s after could put her life at stake. She’ll never let it go, not until he’s behind bars or dead.
She just doesn’t realize it might not be him who pays in the end.
If only she’d let me help her. If only she’d let me in. When she sets her mind to something, that’s it. But there’s an exception to every rule, and I plan to be the exception to this one.
And I’ll protect her until my very last breath, whether she wants me or not.

Review:

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

From Darkness takes the typical romance formula and breaks it into a million tiny pieces. Staci brings us a delicious - yet satisfying - angsty romance full of suspense, uncertainty, and proof that true love conquers everything.

When we left Dita (Aphrodite) in Shift, her entire world was torn apart. Everything she held close to her heart had been set aflame. From Darkness starts with the fallout of the nuclear warhead that is Ares. Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love, no longer knows who she is.

When a new competition begins with Artemis, Maiden Goddess of the Hunt, Dita's heart isn't in it. She finds herself easily distracted and in complete disarray. Artemis chooses the closed-off and emotionally unavailable Josie while Dita picks Jon, who is Josie's ex that left her without a word.

Over the course of the book, Dita deals with her losses, Artemis realizes she is more human than she thought, Josie discovers she can't do everything alone, and Jon is steadfast in his determination to win Josie's heart.

Not only those things, but we also got a more emotional, detailed glimpse into Persephone. You will find yourself in need of tissues with that one. Also, if you don't fall in love Heff, I don't know who you are. {LOL}

With that I'll leave you with this: STACI! Please write some more gods stories.

More in the series:

Paper Fools (Hearts & Arrows #1)
FREE for a limited time only… http://amzn.to/2yF6cEf

Bestselling author Staci Hart brings you an addictive romantic mythology series where love is the ultimate game, and Aphrodite always wins.

She’s everything I want, and she can never be mine.

I thought my heart was too mangled to love.
I thought my soul was too sullied to touch something so pure.

I thought I knew myself. But the truth is that it’s all a lie, and she’s the only one who can save me from myself.

But I don’t deserve her.

And she can never be mine, no matter how much I need her.

Shift (Hearts & Arrows #2)

Bestselling author Staci Hart brings you the second installment of an addictive romantic mythology series where love is the ultimate game, and Aphrodite always wins.

Even the gods cannot betray the will of the stars.

It’s been a hundred years since she’s warmed my bed, a hundred years spent waiting for her. Now we’ll compete again in a game that matters little to me. My prize is far greater than a token to be paid for a favor — I want her.

And for the first time in a very long time, I have the chance to keep her.

Because now the ground has shifted, tilted in my favor, and with her footing unsteady, she will fall.

I will catch her.

This time, I won’t let go.

Author Bio:

Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life -- a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can't forget that. She's also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She's been a wife, though she's certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She's also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she's been drinking whiskey. When she's not writing, she's reading, sleeping, gaming, or designing graphics.
