This book was so refreshing. I loved the idea and the concept behind it all.

When I met the heroine, I seriously wanted to shake her. She was a master-compartmentalizer. She was set on having life a certain way and was bound and determined to make it all happen. When she got some really devastating news about her college fund, she knew she had to find a better job to make tuition happen. Her friend, who was hilarious and supportive and FUN, found her the perfect job for the perfect amount of money. Of course, she took it. It was an incredibly outside of the box thing for her to do. It felt like she needed the opportunity to find out who she really was and what it was she really wanted out of life. Was that cookie-cutter life really meant for her or was she meant for something else?

Then we meet the hero. He's troubled, I can tell. He has some history that is hidden way down deep. He came to be where he is by striking out on his own to be the person he wanted to be. It sounded like a difficult existence but one that he felt was necessary.

I love how they came together. I love how they kept trying to push each other away until they just --- couldn't anymore. When they came together it was fireworks in the sky on the fourth of July. It was everything you wanted it to be and more. He got her out of her perfect little shell and allowed her to grow as herself without propping her up of holding her hand. She grew more on this tiny island with its residents than she ever did at home with her mom and her best friend. Watching her struggle with that was honestly awesome. It was commendable how she was able to find herself so well there.

When a few plot things happen, I was kind of able to predict the Big Reveal but not in a typically predictable way. I never foresaw what actually happened happening. But I LOVED it. The Big Reveal was really tough to read especially after she had grown to really cherish the relationship she had with the hero. She expected better of him and frankly, so did I. My heart broke with hers and I cried with her. I wanted them to succeed and they just couldn't under their circumstances at that time.

The ending was just what I needed. It was the salve that healed all wounds. I very much enjoyed them as a couple and love how they got their happy ending.
