Captain's Log :: Only Fools Jump :: Review

This exceptional debut book was absolutely amazing.

First, I want to address that this is the first published book by this author - and I was BLOWN away. The characters were strong, well-developed. The writing was really freaking awesome. The plot, the story, the everything - it was so amazing. I am just flabbergasted that she's never published before because - WHOA. <----- IT. IS. THAT. GOOD.

Now that that's out of the way ... This story. This story was just a breath of fresh air. I haven't been where this heroine is at but she was so strong and honestly did the best she could with what she was dealt. I loved how her family came first, no matter what her circumstances were. I felt bad for her for not being able to really be true to that, though. I wanted her to be able to shout from the rooftops about her family life because her family was special. So. Freaking. Special. And I know I've said it before, but they're strong. They're resilient. They're supportive. Just loved her and her home life.

I loved all the hero's flaws. I loved his restraint. I loved how he tried so hard to do right by the heroine. He was just so understanding. Yes, he wanted her, but it wasn't this all-consuming-caveman-esque want. He wanted to KNOW her. So that's what he did. He tried to get to know her. It was amazing. He was diligent and careful.

I loved their relationship before it took that serious turn. I loved their banter, their conversations, their glances at one another. This romance WAS romantic!

At the end of the book, I wished I could have read it again for the first time. It is this little piece of magic that I'm going to hold onto for a while. Excellent, excellent book.
