Captain's Log :: The Sex Education of M.E. :: LB Dunbar

I’m forty, flabby, and frustrated. Don’t get me wrong, I have a good home, a decent job, and great children. I had a loving marriage for twenty years where we had our ups and downs. It wasn’t perfect; but it wasn’t awful. Then he died.

After the grief took its course, and the reality of my life set in, I grew frustrated. It wasn’t the bills or the struggle to keep my interest in my work. It was life without a man – the only man I’d been with for twenty years. And before you go all feminist on me, it isn’t that I can’t be an independent woman, but there are certain areas where a man is necessary.

You need a fuck buddy, my friend said.
I didn’t even know what that meant.
Is it friends with benefits?, I asked.
Better, you don’t even have to be friends, she offered.

Boy, did I need an education in the modern workings of dating, and sex.

Captain's Log :: The Sex Education of M.E.

You guys. This book? It was so freaking amazing. From start to finish. I loved Emme and Merrick.

First, I want to say that I loved how this romance wasn't about your 20-something romp through the city. It was about two grown adults. With responsibilities and kids in their teens. This story was so refreshing after being drowned in the 20-something/30-something books for ages.

Widowed Emme just wants some contact with someone, but she doesn't want to become emotionally connected.
Merrick just wants to bang them all - until he sees Emme.
I don't want to say it was "love at first sight" because it was more than that. I felt like they had connected on another level pretty much upon meeting even though that sounds cliché.

Their intimate moments were hot. So. So. So. HOT. But their story was sweet. They overcame a lot of obstacles and secrets. Their pasts play into a little bit and why they are the way they are.

But y'all know I don't do spoilers, so click one of the links below to purchase to read this book for yourself.

I fell in LOVE with Emme and Merrick. This book was so well written and the story was one of those you dream about reading.
